( ENSPIRE NEWS ) The Big Bang Theory Starts Scholarship For UCLA Students!
It all started with the Big Bang! What do you think?
Well as least that’s what some future students will be saying about their college education. The television show The Big Bang Theory isn’t just celebrating the sciences on their show, they’re creating a scholarship for UCLA!
They have over $4 million donated so far that will help 20 selected kids receive their education. The chosen students will be given various size grants based on their financial need as well as academic merit and five more UCLA students will be added to the scholarship every year! What do you think?
The scholarship is funded by Chuck Lorre, the co-creator and executive producer of The Big Bang Theory, as well as about 50 other people including some of the stars of the show, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch.
Lorre talked about why they decided to do this by saying:
“We have all been given a gift with The Big Bang Theory, a show that’s not only based in the scientific community, but also enthusiastically supported by that same community. This is our opportunity to give back.”
This is so AH-Mazing because this is the first scholarship that UCLA has ever had that’s been created by a television show’s cast and crew!
Let’s hope that this starts a trend and more shows can find ways to be more charitable and help with great causes!
