( ENSPIRE LEADERSHIP ) 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL HOSTS CONFIDENCE CONFERENCE

Most 10-year-old girls are looking forward to their next dance recital, school and maybe the latest tech gadget but Olivia Allen has something even bigger in mind. Allen held a confidence conference this past weekend to inspire greatness in her peers.

The Louisville, KY, kid already understands just how important confidence is in girls her age. This is a lesson many women don’t fully embrace later in life, but Allen is changing that for her community.

“The ‘I Can Be’ Girls Confidence Conference will be a unique experience for tween girls ages 8 – 12 where they can be comfortable and accepted being who they (are) and learn how to confidently go after their dreams,” read the the 5th grader’s EventBrite invite.

Allen gave her motivational speech to tween girls who attended the conference and dropped gems we could all benefit from no matter our age. Allen told local Louisville station WDRB that many girls do not have someone to talk to concerning the changes they endure during puberty. That’s why Allen spoke to the girls about social, emotional and physical changes at this critical age and how these changes impact self esteem.

“They can follow their dreams. It doesn’t matter what kind of dreams they are. If they want to be a unicorn, be a unicorn or something like that. … and to just always believe in themselves,” said Allen.

It’s a message that radiates for all. Even as adults, we are constantly learning to accept life’s changes and be our unique selves through it all. It’s good to see young Black girls getting this message and from their peer at that.
