Birthday cake decor goes viral for surprising reason

Lisa Aldrich posted a photo of a cake she bought at a Michigan Meijer. In her post, she said she asked an employee to decorate the cake for a birthday. After it was done, she thanked the employee and headed to the checkout. She said it really didn’t matter that it looked bad.

While she was paying for it, other employees saw it and offered to get her a new cake.  But Lisa said she was fine with the way the cake looked.

And then she found out about the girl who decorated the cake for her.

“To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said “the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her – even though she’s not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.”

By Tuesday evening, over 18-thousand people had shared the post, including many Autism groups. And Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley had retweeted it.

Lisa’s take on the episode:  “I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important!”
