The city’s water supply is contaminated with toxic levels of lead, and residents are unable to drink the water, wash their clothes, shower, or prepare meals as a result of the toxic water that comes through their taps.
Gov. Rick Snyder has declared a state of emergency in Flint and brought in the National Guard to help deliver water, filters, replacement cartridges and water testing kits.

It’s completely understandable that many are in search of ways to help the citizens of Flint, Michigan but don’t know how. Look no further (or get on Google)!
I’ve seen efforts come together that look like the gathering of troops, water, trucks and workers to the citizens physically. Others like myself may not be able to travel to Michigan but still have a heart to contribute monetarily.
Below are a host of organizations who are taking monetary donations and water. Don’t be shy, click on the link and help where you can.
Flint Water Response Team has a list of resources available for Flint residents and places where you can donate and sign-up to volunteer.
Flint Water Fund is accepting donations to help purchase water filters and bottled water.
Flint Child Health & Development Fund will “support the delivery of critical public health, medical, and community-based services and interventions” to help children in the city who were exposed to lead in the drinking water, according to its website.
Catholic Charities of Genesee County is accepting water filters, bottled water, and donations.
The American Red Cross has volunteers distributing water testing kits, water filters and bottled water at several locations.
