On June 8, the world-famous Apollo Theater hosted its star-studded, 10th annual Spring Gala hosted by AJ Calloway (Extra TV) and performances included funk/dance music icon Nile Rodgers and CHIC (Le FreakGood Times), Ne-YoRosanne CashLuke JamesThe Soil, and Kimberly Nichole.  

In addition to exciting live musical performances, the Apollo also presented civic leadership and corporate citizenship awards to The Madison Square Garden Company (accepted by executive chairman James Dolan) and The Ford Foundation (accepted by foundation president, Darren Walker).

The star-studded benefit concert hosted by AJ Calloway (Extra TV) was an extraordinary evening. The diverse performances by celebrated artists who have all previously graced the Theater’s stage reflected its commitment to providing a platform for all musical genres. Including pop-funk and dance musician, Nile Rodgers and his pioneering disco-funk group CHIC; Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter, Ne-Yo; Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Rosanne Cash; R&B singer, Luke James; celebrated South African a capella trio The Soil; and up and coming rock singer,  Kimberly Nichole. The stage was rocked and in a memorable concert. The Madison Square Garden Company, and The Ford Foundation were honored on their commitments to the arts and community.
