What began as a funny viral video has now placed two California students in a position to help others in their community. Daniel Lara has had an amazing experience with fame and now with doing something positive to help others.

Daniel Lara and Joshua Holz, the duo behind the “Damn Daniel” videos, rose to Internet fame after a video where Holz repeatedly exclaims, “Damn, Daniel!” regarding Lara’s stylish wardrobe went viral. His pair of pristine white Vans were a particular highlight of the videos.

As a result, Lara was gifted with a lifetime supply of Vans after he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Instead of leaving and never having to worry about buying another pair of shoes again, he decided to donate them to a hospital.

On Thursday, Lara and Holz visited the Loma Linda University Children’s hospital in Southern California. He gave 100 pairs of shoes to patients, who also received goody bags including trucker hats, stickers and socks from the Vans company.

The duo spent hours at the hospital, signing autographs, taking pictures with patients and handing out the shoes. Lara told the Los Angeles Daily News that the duo “thought it was important to do some charity work and give back to the local community.”

One 13-year-old patient said to the Los Angeles Daily that meeting Lara was “the best day of my life.”

To sum it up, a funny video that went viral lead to a domino effect of positive actions by others. Daniel’s tv fame lead to one thing that lead to another. We can all learn a lot of Daniel honestly. He shows such a spirit and heart that we all should live by. Take our gifts and gift it to others.
