On April 22, 2017, men and women all over the world joined together to celebrate Earth Day, a globally recognized event in which communities and organizations band together to promote positive environmental and climate change. With over 190 countries joining together to celebrate Earth Day, it proved to be a worldwide affair worth its honor.
Bobby Stone and The New Old School hosted its TNOS Earth Day Fashion Show in the heart of Brooklyn to bring awareness to this global event. To kick off the night’s activities, guests were able to enjoy southern infused cuisine catered by Chef Danielle while shopping from local artists and vendors. The fashion show featured the latest styles of B Pretty Inc, Nayburhood Kool Kat, Basic Classics, Brickface Clothing, Infamous Stylz and Crocheted Arts. In honor of the special occasion, designers showcased not only their current creations but also presented eco-friendly pieces.
Many came out to support this event making it a huge success. Notable guests in attendance included celebrity fitness instructor Charity Lynette of Curvy Chick Fitness, Mr. Cheeks of The Lost Boyz, Moha of Full Figured Fashion Week, and FFF Week Creator and Executive Producer, Gwen Devoe. They shared a few ways we can all take part in maintaining the Earth:
- Be grateful and care for your community.
- Recycle – it’s important and doesn’t require a lot of effort.
- Don’t throw your things on the ground.
- Organize a cleanup day at a nearby park.
- Preserve what you have and don’t be wasteful.
- Be mindful of what you do – every action we take affects the Earth.
Inspired by gratitude for all the daily benefits received from the Earth’s very existence, Stone aims to produce this event annually which will help to spread awareness and promote independent artists.
