( ENSPIRE Movie Review ) “Girl’s Trip” A Big Hit at the Box Office
By ENSPIRE Contributor: Sheri John
If you’re looking for a great time with your girls this Summer, then you should head to the movie theaters to catch “Girl’s Trip” ASAP. This hilarious comedy will have you on the edge of your seats with gut-clutching, can’t catch your breath, slapping yo’ knee kind of laughter. “Girl’s Trip” slammed the Box Office with a projected $50.5 million opening weekend in North America, earning just under $106 million worldwide.
The chemistry between the four actresses; Regina Hall (Ryan), Jada Pinkett-Smith (Lisa), Queen Latifah (Sasha) & new breakout Star Tiffany Haddish (Dina) was so exhilarating that I didn’t want the movie to end. One of the messages I gathered from this movie was how to maintain your dignity in conjunction with understanding self-worth, while vehemently knowing where your loyalty lies.
Women of all age groups and races would enjoy this movie and possibly reminisce on that one time they took a fun filled, much-needed getaway trip with their best girlfriends. Fellas would enjoy this it as well. Trust me guys despite the movie title, this is not your typical “Chick Flick” and that shows in the ticket sales.
All the characters are absolutely lovable, but “Dina”, played by Tiffany Haddish, was really a show stopper. She was just the one perfect friend that you had to have around because there would be no fun without her. Even when she was serious she was super funny. “Girl’s Trip” was written superbly and directed with perfection. Even through the screen, creators gave the audience the excitement of what the Essence Fest is really like and captivated a memorable movie. I am so here for a “Girl’s Trip 2″ in the near future.
