( ENSPIRE COMMUNITY ) FEMCON – FEMALE EMPOWERMENT MUSIC CONFERENCE

FEMCON was held Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at MIST Harlem, NYC. Produced by D.J. Tariq Nelson and sponsored by MIST Harlem. FEMCON was developed to specifically help women in the music business. Its mission is to teach women the importance of business ownership, marketing, branding, promotion, publicity, and publishing. This music conference was created to give women the tools to develop their craft and get educated to open more opportunities for themselves and be seen in a positive light.

This conference brought women, industry insiders, and industry lovers together to be empowered, educated and be able to use women in music as a means to connect new comers and veterans in the music industry. It was a well organized, put together conference to give information and motivate other women to succeed in the music industry. DJ Tariq, founder of F.A.M.E. Academy created FEMCON to promote the tools and platform it provides

There were three different panels that focused on artistry, publicity and marketing, and knowing the business. Each panel was moderated by Hip Hop Matriarch MC Debbie D. The first panel featured Lady Luck, Babs Bunny, Khadejia Bass, Kia Jeffries, and Eleven.  They shared some of their experiences of being an artist, their struggles, their individual successes and being able to say they have a hit record. The second panel featured Cherry Martinez, Michelle McDevitt, Nnkea Morton,  and Amelia Moore. The third panel featured Maria A. Davis, Corey Llewellyn, Lawrence Ben Miles, DJ Tariq, and Amelia Moore. All of the panelists gave their insights and perspectives based on their experience on what it takes to make it and stay in the music business. Everyone had something different to bring to the table and educate the audience. By the audience reactions and questions, everyone took some aspect of music knowledge with them.
