Local Bronx Church Gives Back With Annual Health & Street Fair

( ENSPIRE Community ) Local Bronx Church Gives Back With Annual Health & Street Fair

On Saturday, July 29th, a local Bronx Church, RCCG Tabernacle of Restoration located at 4340 Furman Avenue, Bronx, NY, hosted its annual Community Health & Street Fair. The theme “Healthy Bodies, Stronger Spirits” the Fair included free mammogram arrangements, free vision screening, free diabetes screening, childhood obesity, mental health screening, prayer and counseling, social services & community resources, physical fitness session, free HIV & cholesterol screening, health education, advice on common diseases like asthma & cancers, medical consultations, talks on nutrition and so much more.

Communities need assistance with their health and well-being. With the chaos going on in government, everyone is not on the same page as far as caring for people in the country. We have to take it into our own hands and give back to the community in areas where we individually have an expertise in any aspect of health or wellness. Giving back, sharing information can help build our communities.

Tabernacle of Restoration, head Pastor, Vincent Omusi and the church’s community outreach team led by Brother Dapo reached out to their church members, local businesses, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies in relation to issues affecting our community.

Vendors and participants included:

Visiting Nurse Services – Choice Health Plans
Women NYC
Jarme Home and Health Care Services
New York Blood Center
NYC Emergency Management
Montefiore Hospital
SUNY University Hospital Downstate
The Bronx Health Link
Center for Disease Control
Morris Heights Health Center
United Healthcare
SUNY College of Optometry
The youngest State Senator, Jamaal Bailey made an appearance, participated in several aspects of the health fair and he said a few words of appreciation for the church’s endeavors to help its community.

As it was a family event, kids were entertained with a bouncy house and superheroes who made balloons and face painting. Fresh fruits and bbq were served to all. An event open to its community was a true success as the community showed up, learned and supported each other. For anyone to take the time to help others, neighbors and those in need are amazing in its efforts and we hope for it to continue and infect other areas of the Bronx.
